Enable Dark Mode in iOS 11 on iPhone and iPad

Slightly hidden under the Settings is an excellent looking “Dark Mode” in iOS 11! I couldn't be happier to see the most advanced OS making life enormously easy for iPhone users who love to use their device at night. And, I'm one of them who like checking out tweets and latest messages with the needed peace of mind before hitting the bed! Anyway, you can now easily enable/disable dark mode in iOS 11 on your iPhone and iPad; based on your convenience.

Interestingly, Apple hasn't named this feature as “Dark Mode.” Instead, it has been termed as “Smart Invert.” If you have used iOS for long, you must be aware of “Invert Colors”—that simply reverses the colors of the display. Smart Invert has been included under its arms. Enough talk about this all new feature? Let's get to know how it works!

 

How to Enable/Disable Dark Mode (Smart Invert) in iOS 11 on iPhone and iPad


Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iOS device → Tap on General.

Step #2. Tap on Accessibility.

Step #3. Next, you need to tap on Display Accommodations.

Step #4. Now, tap on Invert Colors.

Step #5. Next up, you have two options:

  • Smart Invert: Once it's activated, it reverses the colors of the display except for media, images. It also works with the apps that support dark color styles.

  • Classic Invert: It allows you to simply reverse colors of the display. (It's the one that's existed for long.)


 



Step #6. You have to toggle the switch next to Smart Invert.

That's it! You have successfully enabled dark mode on your iOS device. Now, watch videos, browse the internet and do all sort of activities that bring plenty of fun to you. This time, your eyes won't burn or feel strained out. And, this is what makes it so handy.

Later, if you wish to disable dark mode in your iOS 11 device, simply follow all these steps mentioned above and turn off the switch next to Smart Invert.
