How to transfer Nexus 6P from Android Nougat to Marshmallow

After a long wait, Android 7.0 Nougat finally released and has an update for Nexus 6P . If you subscribe to the Android project, you will have a lot of information about it but this is not good as it is a beta test until the release of the new version is really great.

But in the process of using you upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat and you are sad to have missed many of the features that the new Android Marshmallow fix ROM has. With 7.0, this Rom will not have ETA and you will wonder how to get back to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow without getting bricked. But this article will help you do that.

Lower Nexus 6P from Android Nougat to Android Marshmallow


To get back to Marshmallow, here's what you need to do:

  • Download the appropriate vendor.img for the version of your custom Marshmallow ROM you are using.

  • Download the appropriate Marshmallow ROM and Gapps of your choice

  • Boot into TWRP.

  • Install vendor.img with TWRP installation tool.

  • Restore restore and perform a complete cleanup (Make sure to back up any important data).

  • Install your Marshmallow ROM.

  • Restart and enjoy!


It is essential that you have the installation file from the appropriate vendor and cleaned up everything when returning to Marshmallow from Nougat. If you do not do so, you will face the risk of damaging your device permanently.

Hopefully, this will get you and you back to your features that are packed in the Marshmallow ROM!
